I saw this piece of news the other day, and found it pretty interesting. Good for Sophia Bush for standing up to this. Girls shouldn’t feel like they need to eat less. We’re already pressured by society enough; we don’t need clothing lines to help us view ourselves negatively. This isn’t something that should be seen as “okay”.

Sophia Bush has declared war on Urban Outfitters after they marketted a t-shirt with the words ‘Eat Less’ on the front.

The One Tree Hill actress, in an entry on her personal blog, called for them to issue an apology and make a donation to a charity for eating disorders, and said, “It’s like handing a suicidal person a loaded gun. You should know better.”

Sophia wrote, “To promote starvation? To promote anorexia, which leads to heart disease, bone density loss, and a slew of other health problems, not least of all psychological issues that NEVER go away? Shame on you. I will no longer be shopping at your stores. And I will encourage the tens of thousands of female supporters I have to do the same.”source.

Spirit Day, October 20th 2010 – Fight Ignorance

No one deserves to be made fun of for being themselves. Be smart, be kind, be human and do the right thing. Don’t be a bully. Being gay/lesbian is not wrong. Nor is being straight.

Facebook | Wear a dress day

Good morning ladies, or, well, depending on where you are in the world..its morning for me, but good day! (‘course now I just sound like an old Englishman >.<) So Anywho…

Hello everyone!

Ahh, much better. This post is to inform you that Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 is Wear a dressDress Day. Lydia Oppliger created this even on Facebook and I must say, what a fine idea she had. Here is what she had to say about the even on its Facebook page:

Wear a Dress Day is an event of beauty! I and a few friends came up with the idea after talking about how much fun dresses are and how more girls should wear them. So on June 1st 2010 I invite you to get fancy and wear a dress! Tell your friends, sisters, mothers, hair dressers and have fun being beautiful!

And her answers to a few common questions:

Ok so I have had a few questions:
1) Q: What is this event about?
A: It’s about having fun, being beautiful and wearing a dress. There isn’t a cause attached to this event but in the future there may be. Any suggestions?
2) Q: Are skirts ok?
A: Yes, but it’s not really the same is it?
3) Q: Do guys get to join in?
A: If they want to. Or wear a kilt. But if you are a non dress/kilt wearing guy you should do Wear a Suit Day!

suitYou can RSVP to Wear a Dress Day by clicking the link below, or become a fan of the event by clicking the link below that.  Then for your boyfriend, husband, brother, or just a guy friend, there is Wear a Suit Day that same day! The same links are there for that event as well. I’ll be wearing a dress on June 1st, will you?
